"National Rainbow Baby Day held on August 22nd remembers babies "born after a miscarriage, stillbirth, or passing away of an infant". Rainbow babies signify hope and healing after a loss and are seen as "the rainbow after the storm".
I use to really struggle with the thought of the term "rainbow baby" and felt that it was calling our son Brody a "storm" however I can say that I now feel the storm isn't the baby lost but the grief and pain that follows. Our Ava wouldn't be here today if we hadn't gone through the heartache of losing Brody. While we still miss and grieve him, we are blessed with the little miracle we now have.
To all the families with "rainbows" or working on their "rainbows" my heart goes out!
